1. Instagram is Testing a New Collab Feature

Instagram has launched a new test of a feature that would enable users to post collaborative updates, both in the main feed and in Reels clips. Collaborative posts will be displayed to followers of both accounts, while they’ll also appear in the photo grids and profiles of both users. Each collaborator will also be able to access post stats, and a single stream of comments will be available on each Collab update.

It’s an interesting experiment, which could have value in maximizing engagement and broadening the reach of posts among a wider set of users. And while the focus is on individual creators, and facilitating personal connection, it could also be a valuable tool for influencers and brands.

2. TikTok and Vimeo Teaming Up

TikTok is teaming with Vimeo to integrate the software solutions provider’s video-creation tools into its app. The Vimeo Create feature, now available in the TikTok Ad Manager, is targeted at small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to help them trim production times and costs. Through integrating Vimeo’s tools, TikTok is promoting ease of use for marketers that may not have the resources or know-how to regularly churn out high-quality videos.

3. Facebook Makes Big Investment for Reels

Facebook will invest $1 billion in creators on its core app and Instagram through 2022. Facebook will dole out paid bonuses to video creators using its in-stream ad product over the next four months. Select gaming creators will receive perks for acquiring a certain number of Stars — essentially virtual tips that followers can give out — over the next three months.

By invitation only, Instagram is offering a one-time bonus to U.S. creators who sign up for ads on IGTV. IGTV ads provide creators will get a cut of the revenue when they run against their videos. The app is also promoting a summer bonus to invited creators who post content to Reels.
