The proper time to post for your business is actually much more complicated than you might think. We have already gone over the best times to post on social media, but how often should you be posting?
Before we get started, it’s important to know that these are general rules, and things might be slightly different for your business.
Now, how often should your business post on Instagram? It’s generally recommended to post to your Instagram feed 2-3 times per week, and no more than once a day. This is specifically for Posts and Reels, not Stories.
Why are Posts and Reels lumped in together and not Stories? The answer is quite simple. It’s because Posts and Reels both show up on your main timeline, and Stories are in their own location.
But back to the number of times you should post. During Instagram’s Creator Week in June of 2021, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri suggested that posting 2 feed posts per week and 2 stories per day is ideal for building a following on the app.

Like we said earlier, these are just general guidelines, and results might be different for your business. The biggest thing you should be thinking about is how often your audience wants to hear from you.
If you’re posting too frequently, your audience might just get tired of seeing your content and then decide to unfollow you. If you’re not posting enough, you might not be providing enough entertainment or information to warrant them to follow you.
